Luis Rosa, a State Parole Manager and “Motivational Interviewing” trainer provided full training to 40 plus volunteers in a six-hour intensive, much sought after training. This “evidence based” approach being utilized by parole officers in the Commonwealth of PA and across the nation, is a great tool in building relationships for spiritual healing and change. Everyone involved with one-on-one mentoring will find this especially helpful and it will also prove helpful in group settings as well. Among the resources listed by Rosa were: materials by William Miller and Stephen Rollnick and a guide entitled Motivating Offenders to Change – US Department of Justice.
Other conference speakers included: Marsha Banks, founder of Amiracle4sure; Barry Nazar, Assoc Professor, Temple University; Daniel MacIntyre, Executive Assistant to Chairman of PA State Probation and Parole Board; Gerry Goerlitz, Kairos Prison Ministry International Council. Randall Schieck of Advanced Fellowship Ministries provided special music including a song he wrote, Will You Help Me, that he dedicated to Yokefellowship Prison Ministry, recognizing the significant role YPM has played in his life.
